Edinburgh Trams
Glide: Experience for everyday tram journeys
Design a mobile-first solution for the information system. This would include the tram booking app, timetabling, wayfinding and a visual design system to unify all this information.
With the construction of the new line, Edinburgh will have a new main traffic artery. The information system for the new line must offer much more than just timetables. Rather, it should enable public transport passengers to access diverse, sustainable transport (cars, buses, cycleways, rail etc), plan trips to key locations (malls, businesses, specialist shops) and navigate their way quickly, easily, and intuitively on to and off the new trams.
Glide is an app which lets passengers track their tram’s live progress and search for destinations with suggested popular places and sustainable transport options near to their tram stop. Users will get the latest update about road disruptions and tram crowd levels and get notified of which stop to get off the tram. They can plan their journey in advance. The tram stops are colour coded to make each of them more recognisable. Passengers can purchase their paperless tram tickets from the app, which will generate the QR code to allow them to travel with ease and confidence.
